We've talked before about proper brush cleaning techniques and how having a little “dirt” on the end of your brush can be a good thing. Of course, in this case, the "dirt" we are referring to is the leftover paint on your brush as you move from one color to the next. It can actually help blend your painting and destroy your edges which will have an overall stunning effect. So, when you move from one color to the next, think of the "dirt" as a good thing!
This is also a good opportunity for us to embrace the "dirt" or imperfections in our lives...really, it's OK! Many artists are frightened by a blank canvas because they don't want to make a mistake. One of the many joys of oil painting is the fact that you can simply cover up what you don't like! Don't let your fear of imperfection stand in the way of becoming the artist you've always wanted to be, especially since we're here to help you every step of the way.
Be sure to shop our brush collection so you'll have the right tools to create beautiful paintings time and time again!
